The "Black Mice" Burglars Busy Again in Paris

The exploits of Irma Vep and The Vampires in Les Vampires not only spawned a parody production in The Mouse House (1923) but popularized the depiction in the 1916 serialization that was based on the true life antics of Countess Manola and her merry band of thieving damsels.
These so-called "black mice," named for their black catsuits, began a decade plus long assault on Paris, robbing homes with an alarmingly brazen and cunning approach to cat burglary.
Stills from both movies featuring both Musidora as Irma Vep and Lillian Hall-Davis as Mauricette are shown here in this 1925 San Francisco Examiner full page feature article.
